Artist Statement

I seize the stage to challenge perceptions, mirroring back distortions with defiant irreverence. Born and bred in East London without the birthright of British citizenship, I navigate the murky waters between insider/outsider, colonised/coloniser. My work is a convergence of histories filtered through the prism of life in the Global West.

A multi-disciplinary maverick rooted in performance, I wield body, text, puppetry, stop motion animation, film, and digital technology to conjure embodied, non-linear narratives.

No shame. Blame New Labour for luring kids like me into "EDUCATION. EDUCATION. EDUCATION". Armed with a Goldsmiths degree (art school pretensions, working-class polish) and a raging punk ethos, my creative process is rough and ready yet meticulously considered. I thrive on collaboration and rabbit-hole research, all set to bespoke playlists that fuel the fire.

Ideas flicker to an off-kilter rhythm in this reactive world where concrete jungles collide with spectres of ancestral homelands. The personal and political blur, challenging mainstream narratives, excavating the tangled roots of diasporic family trees.

I champion theatre as a communal act. Amidst DIY aesthetic and kaledescopic shifts in perspective, I beckon audiences to engage, provoke, and question alongside me. My restless curiosity has led me from fringe stages to the MCU.

I am a skilled facilitator and programme designer, creating engaging and bespoke workshops for participants in academic, corporate, and community settings. Through my workshops, participants may explore cross-form creativity, communication, collaboration, and social change.
