Mother tongue
During my time with Nouveau Riche as an Associate Artist, I began work on Mother Tongue, exploring the effects of colonialism and language through the Straits Chinese diaspora, especially focusing on Malaysian-Chinese experiences. With dramaturgy support, this initial phase helped shape the project, aiming for a short film that combines stop motion, spoken word, and documentary elements. Looking to expand this work, I plan to for further research into the impacts of colonial legacies through language, using an interdisciplinary approach to shed light on the complex narratives of migration .
