The clearance

Written as part of Tamasha Playwrights cohort 2022,  The Clearance is a poignant exploration of family secrets, personal clutter, and unspoken histories. As Trudy and her mother, Ivy, confront the chaos of their hoarded home, they also navigate the complex web of their relationship. This narrative, influenced by and rooted in my British Chinese/mixed diaspora upbringing, unfolds during the evocative Hungry Ghost Festival, blending elements of horror, dark comedy, and family drama to challenge and captivate. It's a journey through the mess we inherit and the truths we must face to make peace with ourselves and our closest relations.

COME THROUGH – a festival by artists for artists and audiences!

Produced by Tamasha in Partnership with Birmingham Hippodrome and Theatre Technis @ 26 Crowndale

For the first time, Tamasha is showcased ten brand new extracts created by members of their playwrights and directors programmes. The festival took place over two weekends in Birmingham and London, comprising new writing, workshops, panel discussions and networking opportunities .

Tamasha’s Developing Artist Programme supports over 150 emerging and established theatre artists annually, nurturing voices from nearly every global majority community in the UK.

During their time on the programme, this year’s Tamasha Playwrights have worked with facilitators, Iman Qureshi and Satinder Chohan, to write ten brand new plays.

Each script-in-hand performance will be directed by one of the Tamasha Directors, forming a very exciting collaboration.
