DING DONG

Lead Artist - Roshi Nasehi

Direction + Dramaturgy - Peyvand Sadeghian

Lighting + Video Design - Al Orange

Roshi and I collaborated on D U A L دوگانه , in which she was Composer + Sound Designer. So it was an honour to be asked to collaborate again in a different capacity, making my directorial debut, and having lighting + video extraordinaire, Al Orange, back on board.

In 2018 began developing her first theatre piece an presented a scratch at Camden People’s Theatre. With the continued support from CPT, and Arts Council England, a full iteration of the show premiered in September.

Based on a series of real-life anecdotes of “casual” racism experienced by Roshi, the form of stand-up comedy and frames the piece as a means of connecting directly with an audience, and testing the boundaries of the not-funny-but-funny, absolutely ridiculous, and actually-just-racist. Afterall, plenty of comedians have made their careers out of it. Fused into the show is experimental folk & sound art, riffing off these encounters to the point of the the grotesque. In this “selected works” (note- not complete works), with mic, and amp, Roshi is the loudest voice in the room and takes control of a life time of being put upon.
